Project Funding Update: December 2024

The Nashville Historical Foundation (formerly MHC Foundation) has been delighted to assist in numerous projects this past year. Funding of these important endeavors confirms the foundation’s commitment to help ensure that the history of Nashville and Davidson County is preserved through research and documentation efforts and by physical preservation undertakings. Included are the following significant projects:

Nashville Sites:

A mobile-friendly website platform that provides theme-based walking and driving tours of Nashville’s historic and cultural destinations. There are more 40 free tours that you can take virtually from your home on in-person while in Nashville. To get started, visit: nashvillesites.org

Fort Negley Park:

Largest inland fort of the Civil War, NHF helped fund a Historical Structures evaluation, Cultural Landscape report, and long-needed Master Plan for the upcoming reintroduction of this significant national landmark.

Historic Sunnyside House in Sevier Park:

NHF helped in the assessment and preservation of this distinguished 1852 residence, one that now proudly serves as the resuscitated headquarters and learning center for the Metro Historical Commission.

Conference on African American History and Culture

NHF is an annual sponsor of this important yearly event, one that shares the impact of a significant population of citizens responsible for what Queen Victoria called “a city of music.” We hope you’ll join us for this year’s conference in February.
